<p><strong>KANSAS CITY</strong> &#8211; The NAIA this week named a pair of graduate students in St. Mary&#8217;s Luke Skinner and Southeastern&#8217;s Zach Nichols as its National Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.</p>
<p>Skinner&#8217;s 1000m time is the No. 1 NAIA mark this year as well as a school record. His 800m time is the No. 3 NAIA mark this year as well as a school record. He won both events.</p>
<p>Nichols posted a career-best in the Weight Throw and the No. 3 mark nationally this season with a 19.93 to win The Sun Conference title. He also hit the B qualifying standard in the Shot Put to win the event and post a 20-point day and help the Fire win their second consecutive Sun Conference Indoor championship.</p>

<p><strong>ATLANTA, Ga.</strong> – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s and women’s basketball Players of the Week.</p>
<h4><strong>Women’s Basketball</strong></h4>
<p><strong>PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Bria Gibbs, Savannah State</strong><br />
<strong>Center  |  Junior  |  Greensboro, N.C.</strong></p>
<p>Bria Gibbs had another fantastic week, scoring double figures in two wins for Savannah State. Against Spring Hill, Gibbs recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 12 rebounds and 17 points. Against Fort Valley State on Saturday, Gibbs scored 13 points. The Lady Tigers lead the SIAC at 13-0, 7-0 and are one of three undefeated teams in the nation.</p>
<p><strong>NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– </strong>Ta&#8217;Quashia Lumpkin, Savannah State<br />
Forward  |  Freshman  |  Beaufort, S.C.</p>
<p>In her first season playing for Savannah State Ta&#8217;Quasia Lampkin is quickly becoming key to their victories. In a win against Fort Valley State, Lampkin recorded her first double-double with a season-high 22 points and 16 rebounds. She also led in steals with 7. She leads the team in steals this season with 36 and is second on the team in blocks with 12. The Lady Tigers lead the SIAC at 13-0, 7-0 and are one of three undefeated teams in the nation.</p>
<h4><strong>Men’s Basketball</strong></h4>
<p><strong>PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Deshawn Millington, Tuskegee</strong><br />
<strong>Guard |  Senior   |  Brooklyn, N.Y.</strong></p>
<p>In two games last week, Tuskegee’s Deshawn Millington led the Golden Tigers to two wins over Edward Waters and Lane. Millington, a senior from Brooklyn, N.Y., had a season-high 23 points against Edward Waters while adding four assists, four steals, and two rebounds. Against Lane, Millington led with 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal.</p>
<p><strong>NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– </strong>Devin Booker, Tuskegee<br />
Guard   |  Junior  |  Chicago, Ill.</p>
<p>Booker is the leading scorer for the Golden Tigers in two contests this week.</p>
<p>Against Edward Waters, Booker posted five points and three rebounds. Against Lane, the junior guard collected 16 points and six rebounds. He is averaging 12.9 points per game and 1.7 rebounds per game in an average of 30.8 minutes per contest with 11 starts in 12 games played.</p>

<p>The Peach Belt Conference named Wesley Simpson from Georgia College the Men&#8217;s Basketball Player of the Week on Jan. 17, 2022.</p>
<p>Simpson turned in a pair of double-doubles as the 24th-ranked Bobcats split a pair of games. The junior guard from DeLand, Fla., scored 21 with 10 rebounds in a win over USC Aiken and had 21 with 12 rebounds in a loss at North Georgia. He also added 4.0 assists per game and a steal.</p>
<p>Simpson is currently ninth in the PBC in scoring, 11th rebounding and field goal percentage and fifth in assists per game.</p>

<p>The Peach Belt Conference named Lander&#8217;s Makaila Cangé the Women&#8217;s Basketball Player of the Week on Jan. 17, 2022.</p>
<p>Cangé was absolutely incredible in two wins last week for the 10th-ranked Bearcats, averaging 32.5 points and 16 rebounds per game. The junior forward from Douglasville, Ga., scored 43 with 18 rebounds in a win over Augusta, then had 22 with 14 boards in a win over Clayton State. She shot an eye-popping 86% (24-28) from the field with a block, a steal and two assists.</p>
<p>Her 43 against Augusta is tied for the fifth-highest single-game point total in PBC history and is the second-highest scored in a game in NCAA Division II so far this season as well as a Lander school record.</p>
<p>She set another Lander record with 16 made field goals in that contest. She is ranked sixth in the nation in scoring at 21.5 ppg and is second nationally in field goal percentage. Cangé is also second in the PBC in rebounding and free throw percentage.</p>

<p>The Gulf South Conference announced its Men&#8217;s Basketball Player of the Week Awards Presented by TicketSmarter for the 2021-22 season. This week&#8217;s awards were for games played between Jan. 3-9.</p>
<p><strong>Player of the Week: James Graham, F &#8211; Auburn Montgomery</strong><br />
Graham averaged 20.5 points and 10 rebounds over a pair of wins for Auburn Montgomery last week while shooting 57 percent (15-26) from the floor. The junior forward logged his third double-double of the season with a 13-point, 13-rebound performance while blocking five shots in an 83-81 triple overtime win at Christian Brothers on Thursday, Jan. 6. On the road at Union, Graham accounted for a game-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 4-for-5 from behind the arc. He also added seven rebounds a block, one steal and an assist in the Warhawks 78-73 victory over the Bulldogs on Saturday, Jan. 8</p>
<p><strong>Freshman of the Week: PJay Smith, G/F &#8211; Lee</strong><br />
Smith averagd 8.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists as Lee went 2-0 in GSC competition this week. In a 83-65 road win over Shorter, the freshman dropped four points, dished out three assists and pulled down a rebound in 16 minutes of action. On Jan. 8, he had 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 2-for-2 from behind the arc, while adding five rebounds and two assists as the Flames beat West Alabama, 66-63.</p>

<p>The Gulf South Conference announced its Women&#8217;s Basketball Player of the Week Awards Presented by TicketSmarter for the 2021-22 season. This week&#8217;s awards were for games played between Jan. 3-9.</p>
<p><strong>Player of the Week: Emily Jones, G &#8211; Christian Brothers</strong><br />
Jones knocked down nine of her 18 field goals for a 24-point outing as the Lady Bucs took an 84-79 victory over Auburn Montgomery on Thursday, Jan. 6. The sophomore shot 4-of-7 from beind the arc while adding five boards, three assists, two steals and a block against the Warhawks. In an 83-81 loss to Montevallo on Satuday, Jan. 8, Jones shot 50 percent from the floor (8-of-16) as well as a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line on her way to scoring a game-high 26 points. She fill the stat sheet with six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots in 37 minutes of action.</p>
<p><strong>Freshman of the Week: Ally Alford, G &#8211; Mississippi College</strong><br />
Alford posted a team-high 23 points on 8-for-15 from the floor including 5-of-9 from deep as Mississippi College topped West Georgia, 73-51. The freshman guard also grabbed seven rebounds, which matched her season-high. The Jan. 8 victory was Alford&#8217;s fifth time this season leading the team in scoring, the most by any Choctaw, and her fourth game with 20 or more points. The freshman guard ranks third in the GSC in three&#8217;s per game (2.5) and fourth in three-point percentage (40.6). The 22-point win marked the largest margin of victory in the series with the UWG.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Peach Belt Conference named Columbus State&#8217;s Langston Gaither the Men&#8217;s Basketball Player of the Week on Jan. 10.</p>
<p>Gaither averaged 31 points and 8.5 rebounds in two games last week, including 37 in a win over Clayton State. The senior guard from Alexandria, Va., scored 25 with nine boards to begin the week against No. 25 Flagler. He came back to hit 7-of-14 from the field including 4-for-5 three-pointers against Clayton State. He also hit 19 of 20 free throws.</p>
<p>The 37 points is the most scored in a conference game in the PBC so far this season and second-most in all games. His 19-for-20 effort at the line is also the most makes and attempts in the PBC in all games this season. Gaither is currently second in the PBC in scoring and third in free-throw percentage.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Peach Belt Conference named Clayton State&#8217;s Audrey McElhaney the Women&#8217;s Basketball Player of the Week on Jan. 10.</p>
<p>McElhaney did all she could with back-to-back 30-plus point games for Clayton State last week. The junior forward from Tifton, Ga., scored a career-high 33 with 14 rebounds in a loss to Young Harris and followed with 32 points in a loss to Columbus State. She hit 62% from the field with 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game.</p>
<p>Her 33 points is tied for the most in a single game in the PBC this season and she is the only PBC player with two games of 30 or more. She is currently ranked fourth in the PBC in scoring, third in field goal percentage and 12<sup>th</sup> in rebounding.</p>

<p><strong>KANSAS CITY, Mo.</strong> &#8211; Southeastern University junior <dfn>Riley Minix</dfn> was selected as the NAIA Men&#8217;s Basketball National Player of the Week for his work in a win over No. 1 Saint Francis on Saturday.</p>
<p>The Vero Beach native had a game-high 29 points and hauled in eight rebounds in a 74-72 win over the Cougars Saturday afternoon. Minix connected on a pair of free throws with four seconds left to put the Fire on top and scored the final seven points of the game for the Fire in the win.</p>
<p>Minix is currently 15<sup>th</sup> in the NAIA in scoring at 21.5 points per game and is averaging 33 points per 40 minutes which is third nationally. Additionally, he is averaging 9.9 rebounds per game and is 58% from the field.</p>
<p>The Fire take on 13<sup>th</sup>-ranked Grace this afternoon at 4 p.m. at The Furnace.</p>

<p><strong>NEW ORLEANS</strong>&nbsp;– Coastal Carolina’s Reese White and Josaiah Stewart and South Alabama’s Diego&nbsp;Guajardo claim Sun Belt weekly awards after propelling their teams to 2-0 starts.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Football Offensive Player of the Week</strong><br>Reese White, Coastal Carolina<br>(Jr., RB – Sandy Springs, Ga.)<br><br>Chanticleers junior running back Reese White rushed for a career-high 102 yards and three touchdowns in Coastal Carolina’s 49-22 victory over Kansas. The 100-yard rushing game was the first of the Sandy Springs, Ga., native’s career, while his three rushing touchdowns are the most by a Sun Belt running back in a single game this season.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Football Defensive Player of the Week</strong><br>Josaiah Stewart, Coastal Carolina<br>(Fr., DL – Everett, Mass.)&nbsp;<br><br>Chanticleers freshman defensive lineman Josaiah Stewart set a single-game program record with 3.5 sacks and tied the Coastal Carolina high-water mark with 3.5 tackles-for-loss. The Everett, Mass., product tallied eight total tackles to lead the Chanticleer defense that accumulated 11.0 tackles-for-loss, 6.0 sacks, a blocked punt and a blocked extra-point in a 49-22 win over Kansas.<br><br><strong>Football Special Teams Player of the Week</strong><br>Diego Guajardo, South Alabama<br>(So., K – Spanish Fort, Ala.)&nbsp;<br><br>Jaguars sophomore kicker Diego Guajardo kicked a 44-yard field goal as time expired to lift South Alabama to a 22-19 win over Bowling Green. The Spanish Fort, Ala., native also connected from 22 and 41 yards out, as part of a 10-point effort. Guajardo’s three field goals tied his career high, while his walk-off kick provided the Jaguars their first win on the final play of the game since Oct. 20, 2012.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>2021 Sun Belt Football Offensive Players of the Week</strong><br>Week 1 – Corey Rucker, Arkansas State<br>Week 2 – Reese White, Coastal Carolina</p>
