KANSAS CITY, Mo. | Florida A&M University’s Nasir Core was among more than 1,350 men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who were recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Wednesday as a member of the 2019-20 NABC Honors Court.
The NABC Honors Court highlights the talents and gifts that the men’s basketball student-athletes possess on the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria, including maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2019-20 academic year. The student-athlete must be academically a junior or senior and must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
Core, who obtained a cumulative 3.35 GPA and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, played in all 27 games last season, averaging 23.3 minutes per game. The Tampa, Fla. native averaged 7.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and nearly 1.0 steals per game. He poured in a career-high 29 points in a thrilling double-overtime victory over Delaware State on Feb. 15.
