BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference is proud to announce the GSC All-Decade Awards for football. The awards factor in the years 2010-19 and were jointly selected by institutional personnel, coaches, and league administrators.

Valdosta State’s Rogan Wells has been named the GSC Offensive Player of the Decade. Wells has been named an All-American multiple times by a variety of outlets and has two top five finishes in Harlon Hill Trophy voting (2nd in 2018 and 4th in 2019). He is also a two-time GSC Offensive Player of the Year, winning the honor in 2018 and 2019. Wells led one of the most potent offenses in league history to a GSC record 25 straight wins and the 2018 NCAA Championship.
Tavarius Wilson from North Alabama has been named the GSC Defensive Player of the Decade. Wilson was the 2013 National Defensive Player of the Year, also winning the top individual defense honor for the region and conference. In both 2012 and 2013 he was named a First Team All-American by multiple organizations. Over two seasons with the Lions, Wilson had 235 tackles, five interceptions, and three forced fumbles.
West Florida’s Pete Shinnick has been named the GSC Coach of the Decade. The Argos have only had a football team for four seasons, but Shinnick has made history at the helm of UWF, advancing to the NCAA Title Game twice and winning the 2019 NCAA Championship. Shinnick was named the National Coach of the Year in both 2017 and 2019 by multiple outlets. Overall, UWF has compiled a 9-1 playoff record in two trips to the postseason, including an 8-0 record on the road.
