LAKELAND, Fla. – Southeastern University women’s soccer coach Alan Berrios announced the team’s 2020 schedule today.

The Fire will compete in 13 contests, and also have a scrimmage and an exhibition contest on the slate.

“With all of the uncertainties going on in our country and around the world today, we are extremely thankful to have a season this coming fall,” said Berrios. “When I was hired, I inherited an 18-game schedule. With all the changes that took place with reduced schedules, we suddenly found ourselves looking for games. It has definitely been a challenge securing 13 games, but I’m excited with the final product.”

The season begins with an exhibition game on Sept. 14 at home at 5 p.m. against the University of Fort Lauderdale. After that, the Fire will play four straight on the road with trips to Middle Georgia State on September 17th, followed by Mobile two days later which was ranked as high as 15th last season.

Sun Conference play begins on Sept. 23 against Polk County rival Warner in Lake Wales, then the Fire will face Ave Maria on the 26th before hosting Florida National for a non-conference game on the 28th.

Following a trip to Johnson & Wales on Oct. 3, the Fire will host Webber International on the seventh. On Oct. 14, SEU will host defending national champion Keiser at 7 p.m. Three of the five losses the Fire had last season were to the Seahawks, each by the count of 2-1.

After traveling to Florida Memorial on Oct. 17, the Fire will play three of their final four at home, hosting Thomas (10/21), St. Thomas (10/24), and USCB (10/31) with a trip to SCAD (10/28) as the final road game.

Southeastern finished the 2019 season with a 19-5 record and made its second consecutive trip to the national semifinals.
